My wife and I are scheduled to leave for Italy on August 20th for a vacation that will last until August 31. I just realized my passport will expire on December 4. It seems that Italy will allow you entry if your passport expires for at least three months after the period of your stay. I think I should be just under wire but any guidance or experience with this issue would be very helpful and appreciated.
Thanks.
Call passport plus on 49th (I think) www.passportplus.net and get your passport renewed. You will need proof you are traveling in the next two weeks. You can also go do it youself at the passport office (Hudson st). Don't risk it.
Your current passport should be okay...you fall within the 90 day rule. For what it's worth, immigration officers have a lot discretion when it comes to this. If you're from a "rich" country like USA or Canada, they often make exceptions, even if your passport expires in less than 90 days.
