5 nights before Paris

We are brainstorming an early spring trip. We are meeting friends in Paris on April 3rd then to Brussels but looking to arrive somewhere on March 29th. Given the time of year, what are the forum’s suggestions for the 5 nights before Paris and Brussels ? Transportation connections arriving in Europe and to Paris are significant considerations.

We’ve been to most of Italy, Provence, Normandy, London, Scotland, the Cotswolds, Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.

We are considering Lisbon which lets us visit Portugal for the first time but probably not enough time to really visit Porto and the Douro Valley which I would ideally like to do because we are wine lovers.

What would you suggest?

I vote for Lisbon. Easy plane ride to Paris from there. Five days is a good amount of time, you can include Porto, and you can always go back again if you like it.

I agree, Portugal. That gives you four days for visiting and one jetlag day.

The Loire sounds like a great fit, or the Mosel.

Have you thought about the Netherlands? Amsterdam? Plenty to see and do there. There are direct trains from Amsterdam to Brussels and Paris. If you fly Delta/KLM/Air France you can fly into Amsterdam and out of Paris.
