We will be doing a 10 day home exchange in Tours, France this summer (Loire Valley) and are looking for another place to go for a week. We love the outdoors, and are on the adventurous side, but don't like throngs of people. Any good ideas? Thanks!
You might look into the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region of France and see if that area might appeal to you. About 10 years ago, I went on a hiking trip in the area around the Verdon Gorge. The Gorge itself is lovely and the hike between Point Sublime and Chalet de la Maline is challenging ... ladders, steps, etc. I was on an organized hiking trip, but I believe there are other "adventure" type activities in the area. Towns in the area include Riez, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, La Palud, Castellane, and Saint-André-les-Alpes.
I hike in both the Pyrenees national park (darn few people), and the Dordogne area. I go alone, so have no opinion/knowledge of organized stuff.
