Tomorrow, my wife and I start our 40th Anniversary trip to England, Wales, Normandy,Brittany, and Paris, France. I want to thank the helpline folks who have been so much help in planning this trip. We fly tomorrow from Lubbock, Texas, to Dallas. We'll spend the night at an airport hotel, then fly out to Manchester, connecting at JFK. We'll rent a car at the airport and drive to Conwy, Wales, with a stop in Chester along the way. From there, we're working our way south through Wales, then on to Cornwall and back to London via Dartmoor. After a week in London, we're taking the ferry from Portsmouth to Caen, renting a car, and spending a week in Normandy and Brittany. We'll take the TGV from Quimper to Paris for a week there. We're ending in Paris for a reason. I took my first trip to Europe in 1972. I decided to ask my (now) wife to marry me up on Montmarte while I was in Paris. We've been there together several times since,but this time is special.
So this trip is a love story for us. Everyone in this forum is so helpful, I just wanted to share.

Awww how nice! Please have a safe and wonderful trip! I feel sentimental because my parents celebrate their 40th anniversary also this year, and my sister and I wanted them to travel to Italy to celebrate. However, my mom wouldn't fly from here to Cleveland, let alone overseas. So pop a celebratory bottle of wine in behalf of my parents! :)

Thank you all for such nice and kind comments. Forty years sounds like a long time doesn't it. Peculiar how time seems so long and daunting looking forward but so short and fleeting looking back. I appreciate your kind words very much.

Congratulations to you both. Enjoy your special time together. What a wonderful way to celebrate and a Blessing for you both. Such memories too. What a beautiful love story. We will celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary next month and begin our Mediterranean cruise in Oct.

Oh Thomas, bless your hearts and congratulations. I've been to most those places. I love Chester and Conwy, Wales. The drive from Chester to Conwy is beautiful. I hope the heather is in bloom while you're there. I hope the two of you have a safe memorable journey. What a wonderful story. Bless you both.
