'Welcome to the Helpline' photo - where taken?

Anyone recognize where this is? (Man with laptop, large pink bldg & sea in background)

The photo in question was changed several years ago, when the site was upgraded.
At that time, the question came up here: Is the man with the laptop a (somewhat younger) Rick? The question was eventually authoritatively answered by a ETBD staff member who shall not be named. What the correct answer is, shall be revealed in these pages...later? What do ya think: Rick or not Rick?

It looks like the hiking trail just above Vernazza in Cinque Terra to me. I don't recall that table but do remember similar tables along the trail (usually with a place to donate for cat food) for the semi-ferrel cats in the area.

Brad's right. It's Vernazza. No doubt about it.

Hi Tim, Yes, it is definitely Vernazza, and if you walk a little way further up the trail towards Monterosso, you have an incredible view of the whole harbour. In fact, I think this is my favorite view on the whole trail.

Tim, That's definitely Vernazza, as the Tower of the castle is clearly visible in the background. However, that's not the table where the Cats reside, as that's a few minutes further back up the trail. The vantage point that most people (including me) use to take photos of Vernazza is also slightly uphill from this point. Cheers!

Kent, My answer would be unequivocally NO, that's not Rick! Laptops didn't exist when he started travelling, and the individual in the photo appears to be fairly "young". Of course, I've been known to be wrong on past occasions. I'll anxiously be awaiting the answer! Cheers!

O.K., it's been established WHERE the photo was taken. My guess as to WHO the man is...Andy Steves?

It's not Andy Steves. The photo was discussed a couple of years ago, and the webmaster at the time said it was a customer on one of Rick's tours of the region.

It's on the page 2 back from this one where you choose which forum to go to...general, transportation, to the north, etc.

And the answer is: ! ! ! ! V Michael is correct, see his post above!
(actually, everyone was correct, but Michael was most correct!) :)

Thanks all for the ID. Cinque Terre has now been added to my bucket list.
