I am looking at the hotel Marin in Venice..does anyone
have advice on getting to the Royal Carribean terminal
from its location in Santa Croce? Much thanks Richard

The best way to get to the terminal is by taxi (land taxi , as water taxis are VERY expensive). Walking would not work, as the terminal is not accessible that way and the passenger ship area ia buried deep within the port area. There is a square a few blocks from the train station and that is the best location to get transport to the port. If you are burdened w luggage, it is not a good option

Try to avoid water taxis -- they are more than expensive. Land taxi is best bet ask hotel for location to catch the taxi.

Richard,
We took that cruise two years ago. You need to take the Vaporetto to the Piazzale Roma stop. There you will find a big parking lot. Toward the rear of the lot the Cruise Ships offer a free shuttle bus to the ship. Check with Royal Caribbean to make sure this is still offered. Look in Rick Steves Italy book for information about Vaporetto stops. We loved the cruise.

The Hotel Marin is one of the closest to the Piazzale Roma. It's an easy walk and you can get a shuttle to the cruise terminal from there.

Hi Richard - It is a "TRAVELER'S HELPLINE" and that should mean that people should help you ONLY if they know what they are talking about. Patricia is exactly correct - you definitely do not need a land taxi - The Vaporetto will drop you right where she said it would and the Ship's shuttle will pick you up, Glad she knew what she was talking about -m It helped you!!!

Admittedly, it is 4 years since we did it, and I have no problem with the advice given, but we took the vaporetto to the square as indicated, but we were unaware of the cruise shuttle, or it may not have been available then. Prior to the day of the cruise, we walked to the terminal to see if it was doable, and it was, however, on the day of the cruise it was raining and we took a land taxi from Roma to the terminal.

The free shuttle from the plaza to the ship port is only available on the days when a Costa ship is in port. Not all ships provide the shuttle. If a Costa ship is in port, anyone can take the shuttle. Just dont plan on it being there. If there is not a shuttle, you can take a land taxi from the plaza to the ship's port. (the ship's port is about the only place you can take a land taxi)

Have a great cruise!
