The Rick Steves company, which can be contacted via this webpage, could tell you where their books are sold in Italy. You'll want to tell them where in Italy your son is, it will be a bookstore that carries English language books, not the easiest thing to find there.

To narrow it down, when you ask, tell them which city your son is in . . . and maybe the next couple on his itinerary, just in case.

Best of Europe is pretty limited on Italy. If he's spending any time there, he should consider Rick's Italy book or other guides.
