Hi is it safe for 2 girls renting apartments in Paris and Italy (Venice and Florence) instead of staying at Hotels in terms of safty?

As safe as doing it in Seattle, NYC, San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago, etc. LOADS of information on apartment rental in both cities on the website. Take the time to read Kent's post on using the Google search engine to get ALL of the info from the RS website.
Apartment rental is a great idea. Don't be afraid. I've (single female) stayed in apartment's in both cities. Never a problem.

I rented an apartment in Paris last June and felt safer than the hotel I used the prior time before that.
The apartment is probably safer because not only do you need the key code to get into the first set of doors, you need the apartment key to get into anohter set of doors.
Its also more economical, and if your apartment has a washer/dryer, you'll be able to wash your clothes (safely) while you're exploring the city.
