turn off the water heater as you leave home----- and leave a note for yourself to turn it on when you return

I have nothing last minute to add except when you close your front door behind you on your way to the airport, leave everything that troubles you behind it. Well, I suppose you ought to check for your passports....😀 Have a wonderful trip!

Treat yourself to a head, neck and back massage at the airport spa while you are waiting. You will have earned it.

Have fun, that is the best advice I can give!! If you drink, then try the Dingle Gin. I don't care for gin, but I was surprise to discover I like this one.

Claudia’s list is fabulous!! I agree completely-especially about the zip bags and washcloths (don’t exist in Europe)

For a month trip, make sure your bills are paid online (or by mail) before you leave including rent/mortgage payment/utilities/etc so you are not fined late fees and have your credit rating dinged due to late payments.

Hello diveloonie. Did you not do international travel via airline flights recently ? At the airport from which you fly to Europe : when you approach the security scanner place, you will be required to show your identification card (government issued. Most people use a Passport). But you are not required to carry your passport when you walk through the security scanner. Before I walk through the security scanner, I put my United States of America Passport in the bottom of my carry - on bag. All airline flight passengers are required to carry an airline boarding pass (for that flight) when they walk through the security scanner. For me, preventing the loss of my Passport is a high priority ! After I walk through the Airport security scanner, I take my Passport out of my carry-on bag, I put the Passport in a security wallet that is under my clothes. I like the Hidden Wallet. It has a loop for going around a belt. I think it is for sale by Rick Steves' business at this internet website.
General advice : do not bring anything with you, to Europe, that must not be lost or stolen (an expensive and rare folding knife, expensive binoculars, a Rolex wrist watch, Jewelry, etc.) .

So, did you bring your own wine or trust that the Scandinavians will have something palatable?

Thanks eveyone for the well wishes! One day now! Today is a packing and cleaning day.

So, did you bring your own wine or trust that the Scandinavians will have something palatable?

Joe, I bought a separate suitcase and wine sleeves for the wine. Yes, its an experiment, but I am bringing 5 bottles with me! Stay tuned for how that turns out!
