3 month europe trip

I am planning a 3 month backpacking trip all over Europe and I don't want to miss something amazing. I am traveling to Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Germany, Ireland, and Great Britain. I have a few places in each country that I know I want to see...but other than that I don't really know what other cities or areas would be interesting locations. I was wondering if anyone knew of some interesting places to see in any of these countries...any advise would be great because I am still very much in the planning stage! Thanks!

What you should see depends on what you like. People here have asked things like whther the Louve is a must-see even for those who dont like museums or art.
Why ask such a thing? We would recommend Southern France and Northern Spain. The Mezzogiotno in Italy-
roughly the far south of the boot. Germany jas many delights. We'd also recommend Poland and Hungary- both are cheap and great places. It would help if you said WHICH places you want to see, so that others could direct you to places beyond them. It also would help if you told us what your interests are.

Lauren, everyone is going to have their favorite places that may or may not be right for you. You should decide what kind of experience you want. Are you looking for something educational, artsy, relaxing or are you planning to party? All of the above? A friend of mine once went to Europe and said he had no interest in museums. For me, that would be a waste of a plane ticket. You should figure how you'd like to make the most of your time. If you can be more specific, there are some very knowledgeable people here who can help you.

Rick Steves "Best of Europe 2009" would be an excellent place to start your planning. You could read about his ideas about "bests" and then decide if those are things/places you'd want to see. It will also help you plan the most efficient way to arrange your trip so that you maximize the time that you have!
