Where in Europe can I find 2nd hand designer clothing? I am going traveling and would like to shape my trip around finding/aquiring clothing treasures, both vintage and contemporary designer pieces.

Definitely check out the charity shops. You do have to wade through a lot to find the gems. I've found football jerseys, an antique teapot and some humurous souvenirs at charity shops in the past.

In France, the expression for the shops that sell designer second hand is "dépot vente".
Ok, sometimes designer, sometimes not, but in any case worth Googling.
(or "dépot vente vêtements de marque" ; "dépot vente grandes marques")
