Drop your car off in Orvieto, then take the train back to Rome. You may want to think of spending at least one night in Orvieto for see the cathedral, Jacob's Well and other sights then take the train back to Rome.
In the evening all the locals come out and stroll the narrow streets. It is a wonderful feeling and experience.
