21 days In Europe ending in Prague

My husband and I are going on a Viking cruise in May. The end of our trip will take us to Prague. We intend to rent a car in Prague and go to Dachau , then our plan was to go to Fussen to see the castle and stay one night there and the second night in Zugspitz. From there we were planning to go to LUCERNE for two nights. Then on to lauterbrunnen for three nights then Zermatt for two nights then Salzberg for one or two nights then on to Hallstatt and Melk . With the last stop being Vienna spending four days in Vienna with friends. Are we trying to pack too much in?

I hope you know that picking a car up in one country and dropping it off in another country incurs a large drop off fee. You would need to return it to the Czech Republic as your plans stands now. Or Take transportation across the border and pick up a car in your final country destination.

It should say Vienna is our last stop. Then we are returning to Prague to fly home. That is because of the Viking cruise we will be on prior to touring around. We will be returning the car where we pick it up.

So the '21 days' is for the driving portion after the cruise?

If so, 1500-1800 miles over 3 weeks does not seem unreasonable

Have you driven in Europe before? Do you understand how much time it eats up to change cities (by any travel means?) Do you know how expensive Switzerland is? What are your GPS plans? It is not entirely realistic to say that Vienna is the last stop if you have a 2PM plane in Prague the next day. Did you consider open-jaw flights? Doesn't Viking go to Melk?

There is certainly no need to speak foreign languages to do this trip, but it gets old fast to have to learn the driving and parking routines in city after city, country after country, if you don't have a clue how to read the signs!
