We will be touring the Porsche factory in Stutgart, Germany and have 2 days befor going on to Rothenburg. What about Strasbourg France, Colmar or Baden Baden (although not much of a spa person) we will be driving. Thanks, Sue
I really enjoyed Strasbourg when I visited many on the helpline. The Neckar River valley is very pretty as are the Swabian Alps- a plateau and valley area in Wurtenburg. Ulm looks very interesting. I've been kicking myself that I didn't get there when I was student studying south of Stuttgart. Heidelberg is close by and has a wonderful castle. Freiberg too is not far and is the heart of the Black Forest. Pam
Don't complicate your life with unnecessary travel. There is plenty to see near Stuttgart or between there and Rothenburg. Draw a line between Stuttgart and Rothenburg. There's Nördlingen, Rothenburg's little sister, far less touristy but still a delightful town with a walkable wall. Or Bad Mergentheim, with a museum to the Teutonic Knights. If you have to backtrack, see Calw, home of Herrman (Steppenwolf) Hesse, or Freudenstadt, capital of the northern Black Forest. . . . . . ¶ South of Stuttgart is Tübingen, a scenic university town on the Neckar, or Hechingen, with it's Hohenzollern Castle. Only a little beyond Rothenburg is Würzburg, with Marienberg fortress and the Residenz.
Heidelberg, perhaps? Visit some of the towns and vineyards on the Deutsche Weinstrasse or Bergstrasse?
