Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew if a basic student ID was enough or if places required an International Student ID card.

An ISIC is not always required but will not be refused if such a discount exists. I think its worth $25 alone not to have to worry about it.

Has anyone had any recent experience with a student ID card? If my kids take their school id cards, is that enough? Should we spend the money for the ISID card?

I'd go for the ISIC card for the money. It comes with some free travel insurance (I think), and some other freebie benefits.
I did have problems using my student ID a couple times in various places as it did not have an expiration date on it. When I showed them the ISIC, it was OK.
