14 Day Itinerary Suggestions - Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, London

Hello,

I'm taking a 2 week trip to Europe in September. I will be departing from San Diego to Amsterdam on Friday the 4th and departing Saturday the 19th. I would like to spend the majority of my travel days exploring Paris and London. As for Brussels and Amsterdam, the cities I would love to see are Ghent and Rotterdam and/or Antwerp. I'm interested in architecture, museums, food and natural scenery.

Do I have enough days to cover this? Would would be the best method of travel and any suggestions on what to explore?

Thank you!!

Also, no hotels or accommodations have been booked yet.

I see you are flying into Amsterdam. From where do you fly home? I'm assuming you've bought airline tickets.

I suggest you make a detailed itinerary, including travel. You may be surprised to see how little time you have in each location, especially if you fly home from Amsterdam.

We all have our travel preferences. Some like to fill their trip to the brim with different locations. I've traveled like that before. I've also traveled at a more relaxed pace, which gives me more time to enjoy the places I visit.

If it were me, I'd pick two of the four places you mentioned. I know there's a big temptation to cram in a lot, especially if you are new to travel. Trim your itinerary and I think you'll be happier.

I think that's 14 nights in Europe. Which city are you flying home from.? You could spend the nights:
2 Amsterdam
1 Rotterdam
3 Antwerp (daytrip to Ghent)
4 Paris, Eurostar to London
4 London, fly home London

But I think this is too many city transfers. I'd eliminate Rotterdam and stay 3 in Amsterdam. The fact is that 7 nights each in London and Paris would be a fabulous vacation.

Conversely, you could limit your trip to The Netherlands and Belgium, since those seem to be your primary interests. Maybe two bases, with several day trips? They’re so small and have such great public transportation that that could work well.
