13 Night Itinerary Help

Hubby and I are looking at 13 nights in Europe in September. We've already booked the flight, RT Copenhagen (which I wouldn't normally do as I prefer open-jaw, but the price was amazing, so we jumped on it). We've been playing with itineraries ever since but I need help because none of them seem to flow easily.

We're thinking about -
Copenhagen - Munich (flying straight there from CPH airport)
3 nights Munich
3 - 4 nights Austria (Salzburg & Hallstatt)
1 night Cesky Krumlov
3 nights Prague
2 nights Copenhagen (plus 1/2 day as our flight doesn't leave until 7:00 p.m.)

We're hoping to rent a car to drive around Germany/Austria after seeing Munich itself. I've thought about driving to Prague, but not sure the drop off fee is worth it (Hertz wants €305, Sixt is $270).

Is there another itinerary that makes more sense? We've tossed around Amsterdam and Berlin (Berlin isn't as interesting to us, Amsterdam seems out of the way).

Thanks!

I like your plan and think adding more would make it hard to enjoy what you're doing.

I agree, looks very manageable and you're giving yourselves enough time for the major cities, except Copenhagen might deserve more. Overnight in Cesky is a bonus too.

You can figure out the economics of the car dropoff fee vs. train fares or however you're going to get around after the car. Driving it from Austria to Linz or Passau, or even Munich again, would put you back in Germany for the dropoff, then you have to get to Cesky and then Prague. Or maybe just to Prague and a separate overnight to Cesky and back to Prague. The dbahn website can help you with train schedules and fares.

Have a wonderful trip.
