Naples to Sorrento, train or bus?

Hi, i'm arriving in Naples near midnight, and would like to leave for Sorrento first thing in the morning. What is the best way to spend the night? renting a room for a few hours seems like a waste of money.. Also, i've heard trains are the easiest way to sorrento, but buses are much more scenic. any preferences? Thanks!

IMHO boat is very scenic and certainly most pleasant. Trains and buses are usually very crowded and hot.

Are you arriving by plane or train? If by plane, you can stay near the airport and in the morning, there is bus service from the front of the airport to Sorrento. First buses depart at 9:00 and 11:00. Or, you can taxi to the Napoli Centrale train station and take the local Circumvesuviana train. They run every 30 minutes. Fare is about 5Euro. Last, you can take a short taxi ride to the dock Beverello and take the 30-minute hydrofoil. Note, however, that the hydrofoil doesn't run all year round and you don't indicate when you will be traveling.
