Is there "something" (kind of like the cruise lines have) where people can start a "group" for the people that will be with them on a particular tour. Last time we cruised, we joined the group on FB for people who would be on our cruise and got to know a few people and faces before we got on the ship.
No, and on a couple of tours I asked why our email addresses couldn't be shared (with our permission of course) prior to the tour so we could get to know each other. I was told this was a privacy violation, but I would think that if we give the ok it would not be. I took a river cruise last year and met a woman also going on the same cruise on Cruise Critic and we are still Facebook friends. It would be particularly helpful as a solo traveler being matched with a roommate to be able to get to know a little about your roomate before the trip and ease those first few stressful hours.
I've requested this over and over at the RS reunions, but they just don't seem to want to go there. I've even asked if they could have a section on the Helpline for tour group members past and future. It seems like it would be a wonderful resource not only for meeting upcoming tour members, but also for asking questions of those who have already been on the tour. Again, no interest.
My response may get booted from this thread :-) but I suppose that you could try the Travel Partners or even the Class of 2012 Reunion (although I wouldn't want to mess up such a narrowly-focused heading). Maybe just Travel Partners...And only give your tour info; let others contact you through Private Messages. DON'T post your email on your thread!
