If anyone is looking for ideas for future trips, and want to go a bit off the beaten path; The Guardian has listed 10 of the coolest neighbourhoods in Europe: https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2020/feb/08/10-of-the-coolest-neighbourhoods-in-europe-paris-berlin-rome
Thanks, Badger. I'm headed to Warsaw this fall and have added the Powiśle district to my places to visit!
The funny thing is the one mentioned in Paris is my old neighborhood in the 20th. . ..the Cafe sans Nom the writer mentions is on the ground floor of our old building — and definitely had a name back in the day — Le Poisson Bleu! 🐟🐠🐟🐠
I never knew I was so hip
We must have been in the wrong part of Holešovice as we certainly wouldn't have expected to see it on the list. Granted we were only catching bus from the station there but talk about run down! Bus stations are not normally known for their outstanding ambience, but this one was particularly derelict. There was a miserable little McDonalds nearby and a whack of what appeared to be homeless folks sleeping inside.
I've been to Dorćol, Belgrade. Huh????????
