Can you give a summary? It's not letting me read this article even though I signed up.
Basically how do they think we will get it?
The exact same way as French Nationals living outside of France (and vaccinated outside of France) get theirs. You email with proof of your vaccination (cdc card) and whatever other forms that are required (I believe there is a forum thread on that process already).
Pam: "It involves filling out a form and emailing the French government with a request for a QR code and is restricted to people fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved for use in the EU: Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson.
Mr Lemoyne says a similar system will be in place from next week for foreign tourists and visiting second-home owners in France."
Here’s the original quote from his radio interview this morning:
Notre objectif est que dès le 9 août, les touristes étrangers présents sur le sol national puissent commencer à obtenir des passes sur le même modèle que les Français établis hors de France. Nous mettons en place un dispositif dédié, évolutif qui va monter en puissance pour faire face à ces demandes », a expliqué le secrétaire d'État auprès du ministre de l'Europe et des Affaires étrangères, chargé du Tourisme, des Français de l'étranger et de la Francophonie.
Quote in this Figaro article:
Thank you all for the extra information!
I mean how long in advance would you have to do this and what woul be the turn around time? seems like a lot of people will be doing this at the same time?
Are there any details yet on what to send and where and what the turnaround time is? We’ve just landed at CDG :)
No details yet
So the turnaround time for foreign French nationals abroad based on what I’m reading from reports on fllyertalk is very short. If it’s the same process and it’s not overloaded that will make me optimistic.
I’m actually heading out of town for a conference today and I just ran upstairs and copied my passport and other information just let in case I need to send info to someone
Carol, FYI, if it truly ends up being analogous to what they have set up for the French overseas citizens, they will require scans of your documents. I.e. a scan of your passport page, not just you listing what your passport number is. So you might as well go ahead and make sure you have scans of your passport and your CDC card. Then they will also have a form that you will have to fill out. I dunno, maybe they will ask for a copy of your ticket, too, so they can see your travel dates (for the French abroad, they said they will first only do those who are already here in France and who will be here by August 31; they asked that others coming later not make a request yet so they can help the most immediate people first).
Has anyone had any success with this process. None of the links I’ve tried have downloaded an application and I see no links on the government websites. Since French foreign nationals are already using this process seems like it would be easy to find. Anyone have any better luck?
Aimee is right — as of now, this system is only available to French citizens who live outside of France.
the magic day is supposed to be August 9 -- we are certainly ready to roll when that occurs.
Just read on another forum that the day has been pushed to August 16.
If anyone knows, do JPG photos of the passport, CDC card, etc count as "scans"? Thanks
Just read on another forum that the day has been pushed to August 16.
The person may have been referring to the fact that different members of the government have made it clear in public appearances the last few days that for the first week that the health pass is extended to the new sites (restaurants, cafes, long-distance trains, etc), they will not be fining anybody, but rather, doing educational checks. That would put the real start of enforcement at August 16.
I'm in Brittany, and my CDC vaccination card has been accepted everywhere. No fuss.
It is August 9. I checked our local French consulate which has the information for French nationals who live abroad to register for the QR code. There is no mention yet of any such process for American tourists.
I don't mean to be contrary, but isn't a very workable solution to all of this to go get tested while in France? The rapid antigen tests take 15 minutes and the code is valid for 72 hours, can be loaded right onto the Tous COVID French app.
While it is a hassle at some level, I will be testing myself every three days in France anyway just to make sure my health is in order. It makes sense to me. This is a relatively straightforward workaround that also offers a bit of peace of mind that you have not contracted something. You can book for an antigen test online and then go get one.
`As I said on another thread regarding this supposed August 9 date (because I saw how long it took for them to get the one for French abroad up and running):
the government has said they will have an email up and running by Monday.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
I will be in France for 6 weeks -- do you really think a practical choice is to get tested for 30 Euro a pop for each of us every three days? Even people there for 10 days are going to have a major hassle if they have to pay for an expensive test every 2 or 3 days to go about their business.
I hope they get the QR thing worked out for tourists soon.
Just submitted the application and the requested "scans"... Will update if/when I get the pass.
BTW, CDC card and the passport worked just fine today at the Monte Carlo Casino in Monaco, so hopefully at least some big attractions will continue accepting it.

Please use THIS way and not any other way, we don't want the gov't shutting this down because tourists can't follow the requirements.
Go to the Pass Sanitaire--Finally thread for instructions on how to get a QR code.
Here is the thread Frank is referring to:
