Paris in March 2024

Hi, we have a delta flights to Paris that we booked for 2020 but had to postpone due to the pandemic. Because we cancelled before the borders were closed, we now have till end of December this year to book otherwise we lose our credit. We haven’t been to paris for close to 10 years. We are looking at hotels.
Looking for suggestions for hotels in terms of convenience and safety. We will be travelling with our 2 nieces in college who has 8 days off in March. Thansk so much for your help.

Convenient to what? Or what type of conveniences? Also, what is your budget per night?

Where were you going to stay on your 2020 trip or had you not gotten that far when Covid stopped everything?

And yes, a budget would be good to know. Will you be looking for 2 rooms or will you be wanting to stay in one room which will be a much harder situation if there are 4 adults.

Oh sorry. I wasn’t clear. My sister booked hotel Diana which we were able to cancel as we booked the refundable rates. I would think $250 per night or less. I just started to plan as I realized we have till December to book. Flights are definitely more expensive as back then we paid $800 RT for our flights. I also mean convenience in terms of taking the train or bus. Thanks.

Hi, it will have to be 2 separate rooms. Thanks.

Is that $250 per night for both rooms or per room. If it’s for both, that is going to be, as my husband says, a tough putt.

SOMEtimes there are some flight sales around Black Friday so you might watch fares between now and then, book if you see something you can live with or wait to see if something pops up around Thanksgiving!

IF it's on their Spring break that might be around Easter which is March 31 next year? That may mean that there will not be cheaper flights during that time frame.

Hmmm, yes, and I think someone posted recently that Hotel Diana had been sold. Here's the thread on it so you might wait until next week and see what happens under their new management.

I just looked at Hotel Muguet in the 7th where I like to stay. It looks like they have availability for rooms ranging from 140E to 170E the end of March but they do caution that you'd have to book 2 rooms. Many on the forum don't like the 7th. You may prefer to be in a livelier area but I enjoy the neighborhood feel. I would not book non-refundable no matter where you book!

Hi, budget of $250 is per room per night. Thanks Pam, we’ll look into the hotel muguet. It will be for the last week of March for their spring break.
At first I thought I could book the flights this December then i could reschedule but might not work that way. I have to call delta again to clarify.
Thanks for the heads up re. Hotel Diana.

As you know Paris is a big city and using the Metro is a must for some locations. One might wear themselves out as we did (7 miles) and then not enjoy the destination. Twice we have stayed at Hôtel Victoria Châtelet, most recently this past October. You step outside the door and the Metro is there and you are one block off the Seine, near Notre Dame. It is not fancy, breakfast is continental with yogurt and the rooms are small, as are most Paris rooms. THe front desk is manned 24 hours and is very helpful and it falls in your price range. Make sure you walk around Notre Dame, they have done an outstanding job providing information for you to view.
Good luck.

We thought Hotel Vaneau in Saint Germain was quite pleasant and a great value. It's situated in a quaint neighborhood, only a few steps to Vaneau station, and about 5-7 mins walk to Le Bon Marche. It's simple, clean/safe, and very convenient.

We're going again in December and reserved two rooms at Hotel Left Bank Saint Germain so we can be closer to my daughter's boyfriend (who will be staying at a nearby flat with a relative). If anyone has any feedback on this hotel, please comment.

Nothing, in our opinion, beats staying in the very center of the city. The Hotel des Deux-Iles is as centrally located as can be on Ile St. Louis. Not sure what their rates will be in March, but you might get a better price by corresponding with them directly and letting them know you will need two rooms. There are also a couple of other hotels on the same street, and one of them is a sister hotel. If you cross the river you will be in the Marais -- cross it the other way and you'll be in The Latin Quarter. Walk to the end of the island, cross the bridge, and you'll be at the back of Notre Dame -- such as it is now as some of the immediate area is closed off. The Metro is near enough that getting anywhere is not a problem. There are also several restaurants on the island. If you decided to stay there, we can steer you to a great little place for breakfast as all hotel breakfasts seem to be over priced for what one gets. We can also tell you about several places for lunch and / or dinner on the island as well.

You can generally do a search on booking.com and put parameters in, and popup the results on a map to narrow it down.

Usually, I'm the type of traveler who prefers a local, boutique hotel but... I'd recommend looking in to the Canopy Paris Trocadero by Hilton. It's technically in the 16th (as it is across the Seine river from the Eiffel Tower) and is just steps away from the Eiffel Tower. They have a variety of room sizes including "Family" rooms, which can fit 4+ people. Prices in the summer are expensive but prices in March/April are pretty decent. I've stayed in spring, summer and fall seasons (about 5 times in the past 2 years) and I really like that when I come back from a long, fun day of exploring Paris I have some comforts of home around me to sleep. There are rates with Breakfast included, which is a nice way to start the day. This hotel really seems to cater to the English speaking crowd (this can be either a positive or negative.) After my first few stays with this hotel I decided that I will stay here everytime I'm in Paris. Enjoy your visit!

We stayed this past April at the Hotel Beaubourg. In RS guide, while listed on Expedia, etc, they show no rooms available. You need to contact hotel direct. Rooms are fine, baths are big by europe standard, we had a huge tub and hot water was hot. In Marais area, near 2 metro lines, Notre Dame, etc. reasonably priced

Hi, thanks a lot everyone for all your hotel suggestions. They all look good and promising. We
will look into our dates to see which hotel is available with our price range. Thanks again!
