Paris Hotels- St. Germain, maybe Marias?

We are heading to Paris in early May and are interested in staying in St. Germain or possibly Marias. This is our third visit and we stayed in Rue Cler last time and the Champs Elysee area the first time. Does anyone have any experience with Hotel Signature St. Germain des Pres or Academie Hotel St. Germain? Or any similar recommendations. Thank you.

I'll mention a Marais hotel to avoid: Hotel du 7e Art. The walls were paper thin.

Stayed here, highly recommend, great location, friendly staff and a full gym in the basement if that matters.

They seem to be part of a mini-chain so check out their sister properties as well. You're right next to St. Sulpice ("as seen in Da Vinci Code!") and steps from all of St. Germain.

I have stayed at the Hotel Signature Saint Germain. I liked it so much that I not only returned for another stay but also stayed at their two sister properties. The staff is fantastic. Location is excellent though not within the borders of Saint Germain. I really like the area because it is vey close to Saint Germain but not quite as touristy. Decor is what I call modern French which I like but if you like something like Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais (in Le Marais, BTW) or Madison Soquet, you might not like it. When I stayed there, they requested that you leave the key with the front desk when going out. I did but I know some people hate doing that. If you do, don’t worry. They are customer oriented and will say okay. Academie Hotel Saint Germain is on Rue des Saint Peres which is the western border of Saint Germain and is a very nice hotel. JHK- thank you for your reply and to the link to the past discussion of this topic. The Hotel Signature was my first choice but I was concerned that the rooms left might be too small (14) vs (17) at The Academie. I am know most rooms in Paris are quite small so every m counts! :) What is your thought on the room size? I am not concerned that it isn't within the borders of St. Germain, I am just looking at that as a generalized area.

We are a family of four and stay in 2 connecting rooms -- they call this the family room and it is two of their "Elegant" rooms. We have always had the same family room which faces Rue Chomel. The rooms are not huge but their website says that they are 13 square meters which is roughly 140 square feet and is fine for me. No cartwheels or dance parties in the rooms though. These are not rooms where you sort of can spread out in the room and laze about on a comfy chair -- for example, there is only a desk chair in the parents bedroom. But I have stayed in hotel rooms where there is barely room to walk around the bed and no place to keep luggage and these rooms are not like that. Also, the empty mini fridge was great for my family -- no hassle with being charged $10 for a bottle of water and a place to keep some light snacks.

We're big fans of Hotel Artus in the 6th, just off of Blvd St Germain and will stay there for the fourth time next month. Sanjay, the concierge, can procure tickets and reservations to just about anything.

Wow- so many great choices! What a helpful group! I decided to take JHK’s recommendation and stay at The Signature St. Germain. I have already had some helpful correspondence with the operators. Counting the days until our visit!
