Hi, I will be returning from Swtizerland to paris through train on Sep 22 in the afternoon. I have flight on Sep 23 in the afternoon from Paris (CDG) to Toronto. Which is best reasonable hotel to live for one night near to train station and good to walk in the evening/night time? I have 2 adult and 2 kids (10 and 8 yr)
There are 5 major and 3 minor train stations in Paris. So exactly which train station do you want to be near? Without checking schedules I assume you will need to change train stations to get to the airport. It might make more sense to stay at a nice hotel in the center and take a taxi (rate is fixed) to the airport in the morning.
Which arr is good to live one night with reasonable rate? Any hotel recommendation which is good in price?
There is an Ibis close to Gare du Nord which may suit you. I think there is one near Gare du Lyon also. Ibis hotels are reasonable compared to other Paris hotels.
It appears that you have posted 2 other threads asking the same question a couple of months ago, with suggestions that included looking on booking.com. Did none of these pan out?I would add checking out hotels.com and filtering for your requirements. When you have a short list, like in your other thread, we can help you narrow things down.
The fastest trains from Geneva or Lausanne area end at Paris Gare de Lyon. There are lots of hotels in this area. From that station, there's you can take LeBusDirect Line 4 to CDG.
From Basel or Zurich, trains arrive to Paris Est, which is just a couple of blocks from Gare du Nord and the direct RER train to CDG.
Looks like scheduled track work on the weekend of 9/22 means most trains will be arriving at Gare de l'Est and needing connections along the way.
This hotel, not far from Gare de l'Est, got a rave from Philip

Two blocks from the Canal St Martin for some pleasant walks. Lots of restaurants in the vicinity. somewhat of a trendy area in an "East Village" kinda way.
Yes, with 4, a taxi to the airport works best. If you feel like pinching pennies, there is the 350 Bus from the bus depot in front of Gare de l'Est for 6 EUR per person.
Edit - Since it is a family, this hotel has rooms for 4.

I was looking hotel in between US $100-$150.
I checked on hotel.com and found the following which has best rates. Which one is the good where I can stay and enjoy walk in the evening/night time and has some coffee shops etc near by.
Grand Hôtel De Paris $208 - 10th arr
Grand Hôtel Magenta $229 - 10th arr
Mary's Hotel République $208 - 11th arr
Hôtel Sibour $246 - 10th arr
Hotel Liberty $243 - 10th arr
Royal Fromentin $259 - 9th arr
Grand Hôtel De Paris $208 - 10th arr
This is right outside Gare de l'Est.
Grand Hôtel Magenta $229 - 10th arr
This hotel is on the far side of Gare du Nord. Bit of a walk away.
Mary's Hotel République $208 - 11th arr
This hotel is south of Republic Square by the Oberkampf Metro station. You can take the # 5 Metro line from Gare de l'Est 3 stops away.
Hôtel Sibour $246 - 10th arr
This is right outside Gare de l'Est.
Hotel Liberty $243 - 10th arr
South of the station several blocks.
Royal Fromentin $259 - 9th arr
A far piece from Gare de l'Est, by Sacre Couer and the other side of Place Pigalle. Moulin Rouge is just up the street.
They all have pluses and minuses. Never stayed at any. Hotel Liberty could be the best compromise. The hotels right by the station are also by the bus depot, but Burger King and Mickey D's are just down the block.
if you want to take the train to CDG then get a hotel near a B RER stop -- near Denfert Rochereau, Luxembourg, St. Michel, Chatelet les Halles or Gare du Nord. Only Gare du Nord is a train station but train station s are irrelevant -- since you are taking the RER commuter rail to the airport. You can google map for hotels near these stations (I would recommend Luxembourg as a start as hotels may be a little cheaper there than St. Michel and it is a nicer area than Gare du Nord, although that would also be fine and convenient.
This thread is from July and the person traveled in September. Somehow it has been awakened but I guess it is always to good to have the information available in case another person is searching for an answer to a similar question.
Regardless.... there are two Ibis hotels at Gare du Nord, ca 2-3 mins from each other.
One is on Rue de St Quentin, at the end of the block next to the Chinese restaurant "Le Jumbo"
The other Ibis is opposite of Gare Magenta on Rue de Dunkerque.
