Mom's First French Experience

Hello! I am currently an au pair here in France and my mother is coming for her first visit.

This will be 9 full days of eating, drinking and exploring together!! We will be starting our trip in my town (Nantes) and then spending 2 days in Paris, then on to Rome for 3 days. I am in need of suggestions for GREAT places to eat in both Paris and Rome. This is not my first time in Paris, but I already have a few favorites and am hoping to step out of the box a little. We are both foodies so great places for lunch and dinner are a must!

Also, any suggestions on a few "must does" in any of the 3 towns would be awesome! Again, since I live here I know the things I like to do and eat but since this is my mom's first time I was hoping we could try a few new things together.

Thank you for your help!

Research Paris and Rome food blogs. I always find them informative regarding restaurants, cafes, markets.

In Rome, be sure to visit the Trastevere neighborhood, across the Tiber River, west of Central Rome.

And just to the north of Trastevere, less than is 5-minute walk, is the glorious Villa Farnesina with wonderful frescoes by Raphael and other masters, followed by what seems like (perhaps) the world's longest staircase! We were there in December, but if you're there at another time, I imagine the gardens would be much more spectacular.

In Paris, for the finest Boeuf Bourguignon, Le Cave Gourmade. Not fancy but oh-so-good! Also the goat cheese salad is to die for.

In Roma, it's a bit of a trip and a cab is a good idea, but for seafood you cannot =beat La Fraschetta del Pesce. Best pizzas at Dar Poeta, La Pratolina and Da Remo.

For lunch I like any Laduree, Bistrot Vivienne (in the Gallerie Vivienne) - beautiful setting, and Angelina on rue du Rivoli (where you must try the hot chocolate).
