Hotels in Paris

Can someone recommend a hotel that is in a safe location for an older woman an 17 year old?
Looking for a medium range place...not luxury and not hostel.
Thanks

Paris Art Hotel Latin Quarter by Malone was excellent. My son and his wife were there for four days this month and raved about it. They said the staff bent over backwards to help them with additional nights, very safe walkable neighborhood with good restaurants and excellent price.

Re: Mary's link: Go to the Search bar, type in Paris Hotels, click on Travel Forum and then click on whichever date range you prefer.
Also, the time of year matters regarding price. When do you plan to go?

June 2025?
The average price of a Paris hotel room in June 2024 was 265€ and in June 2023 that average was 263€.

I don’t have the numbers JHK has for pricing in prior years but I agree your 200€ price is a bit low. I’d actually put that in a high budget category. I am sure there are places to stay in that range but they may not be where I’d want to be.

One of my go-to places is Hotel Beaugency in the Rue Cler area. I love this neighborhood although many of the forum don’t as it’s in Rick’s guidebook, lol. There are lots of restaurants in the area plus bakeries for lunch and breakfast if you don’t want the hotel breakfast. They have twin rooms which is what you want for the 2 of you. Looks like depending on the date, the least expensive is around 232€.

I’ve stayed here off and on since 2014 on a Rick Steves tour. I don’t usually recommend it any more because it’s looking a little tired and needs a cosmetic reno. The hall carpeting is looking worn but the rooms are clean and staff is awesome. I like to look out the window in the AM and watch parents walk their young kiddos to schools down at the end of Rue Cler. To ke it has a neighborhood feel. Might not be trendy enough for your teen, though, lol. Too many older ladies in lovely St John-type knit suits!

Hotel Apollon Montparnasse in the 14th arrondissement might work. I checked and at some points in June, they have rooms for 235€ per night. But, they seem to fully booked for many nights in June so your exact dates will make. difference. I looked at a couple of my favorites that I thought would be in budget but all are over 200€ and most have very few dates open in June so your exact dates will be important. Here are two for you to check: Hotel Bastille Marais, Hotel L'Antoine, Hotel Aiglon and Hotel Henriette.

I stayed at the Hotel Saint Christophe in the Latin Quarter through Booking.com last September. It was central, clean, and had lovely, helpful front desk staff. Walking distance to many sites. I just popped in 2 random nights in June and it was about 215 euros per night for 2 people. Mine calculates to Canadian dollars so I had to do some arithmetic! I’d recommend it.

I stayed in a so-called "economical" hotel in the Marais called Hotel Jeanne d'Arc. It was not luxury by any means. I'd call it mid range. I looked at June's prices and they're 300-500 Euros. I paid around 270 Euros for a single room in March. Just to give you a feel for the prices. I was about an hour's walk from the Eiffel Tower and 40 minutes from the Louvre. At the time I booked it, I didn't find much under 300 Euros.

Hotel Turenne Le Marais has a "best price" range of 218 to 400 Euros in June. There's often a package deal when booking a certain group of days. You would have to enter your choices to get a real quote.

I would recommend a hotel in the 6th. If you can't find one in your price range, I would recommend one in the 5th. If that is outside your price range, 14th would be my go to.

I stayed at Hotel Lenox Montparnasse and it was very good for the price in a great neighborhood. I cannot recommend it enough. It was next door to a supermarket, across the street from a wine and cheese store. Plenty of bakeries, cafes and restaurants around. A 10 minute walk to Luxembourg garden and 10 minutes by metro to the Seine.

In the 14th, stay as close as you can to the 6th (close to Vavin metro station). Beautiful neighborhoods with a vibrant and local feel. Your goal should be within a 10 minute walk to Luxembourg garden.

I just got back from Paris and stayed at the Hotel Left Bank in St. Germain (mentioned by Tocard above with a link) with my two grandkids. I really liked the hotel, and the location was just incredible. Here is a segment from my trip report that you might want to look at:

HOTEL LEFT BANK, ST. GERMAIN: Hotel Left Bank is in a very old building in St. Germain, which is a really lovely area in the 6th Arrondissement. The streets were lined with trees and flowers, and people were sitting in cafes, walking around and riding bikes. It was a very colorful scene. The hotel was very nice with a vintage vibe to it. Once we checked in, we took the lift to the 3rd floor to check out our room. It was large, very clean, with two single beds placed side by side, and another single in a more secluded area of the room. This was nice as it gave my grandson a bit of privacy. And it had A/C. The weather was as nice in Paris as it had been in London, but it did get a bit warm in the room, so it was great having that A/C option.

The breakfast was an additional cost, but when I booked the hotel, they were offering it for €5 pp, so we got breakfast both mornings, and it was quite good. There were not only breads and pastries, but creamy scrambled eggs, crisp sausage links, fruit, cereal, yogurt, and tomatoes and cucumbers.

The location was outstanding. I think I really got lucky with both hotels when it came to location. I loved this area, and it was so convenient to sights, cafes, boulangeries, pastry shops and much more.
