Paris hotel near St Medard and rue Mouffetard

We used to stay at Hotel l'Esperance. It's been redone and the price tripled. Any ideas on a 2 or 3 star hotel in that area?

hey hey satbtoo
yes many prices have gone thru the roof. when is this trip as in dates, how many people (adults/children), any restrictions as in mobility issues. stars for hotels are the amenities wanted not by luxury (elevator, breakfast, bathroom in room not sharing, bed size, etc, price in euros
look at booking.com to see what's available and email hotel for prices, another hotel nearby. paris is always a busy city, seems like not an off season any more and after late april is high season with supply and demand. it's like this in many big cities in europe.

Hotel stars really mean nothing. What is your budget per night in euros?

I recently searched for hostels in Paris and found several with private and family accommodations. Of the ones I have favorited on Expedia, these are the ones on the Left Bank: Arty Porte de Versailles, Jo&Joe Gentilly, and Hosho. The first one is inside the city limits and the other 2 are just outside. All should be close to public transportation. Most of the hostels are going to be on the perimeter, but Paris proper is relatively small.

Hotel des Grandes Ecoles on Rue du Cardinal Lemoine is near St. Medard and Rue Mouffetard and sometimes has rooms in your price range. I once stayed there many decades ago under different ownership so my good memories might not be relevant. However, it does still seem to get good reviews, has a lovely garden setting, and a good location.
