Hotel within the CDG Charles de Gaulle airport?

Bonjour,
I am having trouble figuring out where to stay at the airport for an early morning flight back. I had heard that there was at least one nice hotel inside terminal 2 but cannot find out which one.

Originally i planned to stay at the Holiday Inn or HI express because they both say that they have a shuttle, but reviews state that they don't actually have shuttle, they are just near a train to the airport. I have two big suitcases and it will be difficult on a train. (I know I shouldn't have this much but my stay was 5 weeks and I bought some things).

Any advice is welcome!

There is a Sheraton hotel in Terminal 2 at CDG. If it is within budget, that is the best choice IMO. Are you staying Paris and then going to move those 2 big suitcases to your hotel at CDG the day or night before your departure?

The Sheraton is within the terminal. I don’t know that I would call it nice because unfortunately they know that they have monopoly and your service will reflect that.

I now stay at the Hilton which is on the little internal train for the airport that might be another option.

I am not a frequent poster on the forum but I do look at the posts and replies daily.
As others have stated there is a Sheraton that is right in the airport. I have only walked by it.. My daughter and family stayed there at the end of July and she was satisfied. Since you have two large bags I can understand how you don't want to schlep them any more than you have to. To me paying a bit more for convenience is worth it. You can check out what amenities the hotel has by going to the Sheraton website . They have been a part of Marriott for a few years so if you have that membership to utilize points or whatever..

We've stayed at the CitizenM right there at CDG and been pleased. You can walk or take the airport shuttle.

Merci Mary, JHK, Carol, Carolann and Anne for all of this great information. I knew that the Rick Steves Forum would not dissappoint.

I am currently in the Loire Valley and plan to be in Paris by train by 1 pm the day (Saturday) before my flight on Sunday. I plan to take a taxi or uber to the hotel. A friend is staying in Paris, so I might ask her if I can store my bags at her place for a couple of hours in the afternoon to spend some time in Paris before taking a taxi or uber to the airport area. My flight is not really that early, its 10 am but with the possibility of war protests and who know what else going on, I prefer to get to the airport area the night before.

That Sheraton sounds great, but it's expensive. Google maps indicates that a taxi could get me right in front of the Novotel. Is the train from the Novotel to the airport hard to take - any stairs that I need to carry my luggage up and down? Or perhaps I could get a taxi from the Novotel to the area where I drop off my luggage? I am taking Air France, scheduled to leave from Terminal 2E.

Merci encore.

There are only two ways to avoid schleping your bags: stay at the Sheraton or stay in Paris and have a taxi pick you up at 6 am and drop you at your terminal at CDG. If you stay in the Sheraton, the bell hop will load you two suitcases onto an airport rolling cart for you. Every other hotel at CDG requires an internal train ride with elevators, if they are working, or escalators, or a shuttlebus to get to the internal train station with escalators. The rolling carts are not available beyond a certain point. The do-it-yourself is fine when your luggage load is light, but when you are overloaded, sometimes you have to throw money at the problem to make it go away. Can you handle two suitcases on and off escalators or elevators?

You can take the CDGVal from the Novotel located at the airport. The hotel is near Terminal 3 so you would have to ride the CDGVal to Terminal 2. The benefit of the Sheraton for you is that it is the closest hotel to your departure location but it is the more expensive. Are you flying Air France. I found out recently that Air France offers remote (from Paris) luggage check in for $25 per piece of luggage. That could be something for you to consider/research if you are flying on Air France.
Edit: I am in France (and Spain) for a month. I’ve seen a number of non-working escalators in train stations. I never depend on escalators when traveling with a lot of luggage.

As long as you have a hotel AT, not NEAR the airport you are good. There is a shuttle between the terminals that runs continuously -- the CDG VAL which connects the terminals and Roissypole where many of the hotels are. We use the Novotel which is MUCH cheaper than the Sheraton but if you want to be at Terminal 2 then the Sheraton is right there. With the Novotel, you hop on the intra airport shuttle to the terminal.

I am not sure if you already have your train ticket from the Loire Valley to Paris, but if not or if it is changeable I would recommend taking the train from the Loire Valley directly to CDG airport. We did this in May and it worked very well. We stayed at the Sheraton which was very convenient for our flight the next morning. After we checked in we were able to walk without luggage to figure out where to get our flight the next morning. There are also several places for food within the airport.

Slight diversion - has anyone taken the night CDGVAL? I've got a 7 am to LHR then JFK and am staying at a hotel near the airport but not the Sheraton because it's out of my budget - so is taking the FIRST CDGVAL at 4 ish going to be ok?

We have stayed at both the Hilton and the Sheraton. Come to think of it, the Ibis, as well. Except for the Sheraton, all the hotels in the complex require using the cdgval. You can walk from the Hilton to the cdgval, or take their shuttle to the terminal.
We found the service at the Hilton to be awful and would never stay there again. The Sheraton was great, however, including offering coffee and warm croissants for those of us needing to leave too early for breakfast.
Just a heads up. Wherever you stay, be sure to allow plenty of time for check in. We needed to check ourselves in and wait in another line to check our bags. Finally, there was a line for non-Schengen residents who were leaving the zone. All the lines were long. I think we allowed ourselves 3 hours and used more than 2.
Nb: our last experience was several years ago, certainly pre-covid. Maybe some things have changed.

We stayed at the Sheraton on September 19th for our return flight the next morning. Everything about our stay was first class, the room was spotless, we faced the airfield and never heard a thing. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was superb. We were flying out on Delta so the walk was short and easy. We have done the Rossiy Bus, Taxi's and trains to make a morning departure but never again. The Sheraton was a great choice. Just one travelers opinion.

Correction to what Calvados said: from the Sheraton you won't have to drag your two large suitcases. Hotel staff will load them onto an airport cart for you. You will roll, not drag. Personal experience.

I took an airport taxi in an emergency about 15 years ago from the Novotel in Roissyville to our terminal. I didn't know that taxi service still existed. Hope it does bc a good alternative.
If it doesn't, the alternative would be shuttle bus, if it's not already full, change to the internal rail line with escalators or an elevator down to the tracks and back up.

Thank you all for these wonderful replies. I have read and thought about each one.

When digging through the Air France website, it says that people going from CDG to the United States (and some other countries) can check their bags in the day before, up to 24 hours in advance, between 4 - 8 pm the day before. That is great news for me, I plan to take a taxi to CDG about 5 pm, check in my bags if possible, then check into a hotel, either Sheraton or Novatel. If worse comes to worse, I will get a taxi from my hotel to the airport. I wlll report back on my experience to help others in my situation.

Merci encore.

Update: Air France allows passengers from Paris to the USA to check in their luggage the day before the flight, from 16:00 - 20;00 at terminal 2. After checking my bags the evening before my flight, I took the CDG VAL shuttle to terminal 3 and walked right into the Novotel Hotel, no need to step outside. The Novotel was great, very clean and nice, with an affordable price and a great breakfast. Taking the CDG shuttle to Terminal 2 the next morning was easy, quick and stress free. Thank you to everyone who gave helpful advice.

We have stayed at the Paris Marriott CDG several times opting for a taxi vs waiting for their shuttle (abt 15e). However, it is pricy and nowadays just does not offer the level of service for price paid. Next year we are going to try the Courtyard by Marriott at CDG, at half the price of the full service Marriott - both incoming and outbound. We will take a taxi there. We just prefer a taxi vs schleping bags.

Debrar, for future reference & another option, last month I flew out of CDG (2E I think, anyway it was Delta) I took the TGV from Avignon direct to CDG the afternoon before. I stayed at the Budget IBIS just outside Terminal 3 and a flat, short walk. The Starbucks inside the hotel had snacks so I ate there. The room was basic, but nice. Next morning it was an easy transfer on CDG=Val to my Delta check=in & gate.
