French Heath Pass QR (Pass Sanitaire) - What worked for us!

Many thanks to all the suggestions provided by you in my quest for obtaining the Pass Sanitaire.
After multiple tries, success at last!!

This is what we did:

  • Emailed - [email protected]

  • Included the following -

    1. - copies of passport
    2. - vaccination card
    3. - itinerary
    4. - file numbers from previous submission.

(IMPORTANT - MUST be in PDF format).

The response was prompt and we got QR codes for all travelers.
Turnaround time was about an hour.

They did indicate the following:
- they are overwhelmed by the number of emails
- not to send repeated emails
- they do not have access to google drive (??)
- they would like all the attachments in PDF format

Thanks!

I haven't done this process, so please explain: is that now the "new" official process for getting the pass sanitaire, or is using that email address somehow different from the formal process of application, or something you are doing in addition to the formal process?

In other words, if I simply did what you describe, is that all I need to do?

@Jojo Rabbit - This is what we did IN ADDITION to the formal process. I cannot aver it will work as a standalone process.

wow, I would've waited; the current passe theoretically ends 15 November, although it will probably be extended.

Macron was quoted in the last couple of days saying that he is requesting the legislature extend the pass program through next July, so unless this is somehow refused, I think the pass sanitaire will be with us for a while...

Their request to not be inundated with duplicate requests is significant. As long as once is enough, clearly slowing down their system with an overload of applications doesn’t help the backlog. It’s great that you got your passes (and have the ability to generate a PDF file, which I think is not something I can do these days ☹️), and thanks for passing on your info. Have a great trip!

" I think the pass sanitaire will be with us for a while..."

Oh, I'm sure it will be; I just don't think it's a good idea to overload their system when the trip's not for 1+ month or more...

France IS officially allowing US tourists to use their CDC cards, there have been multiple comments about this.

And frankly, since France has been opened to vaxxed Americans for months and the US has not yet reciprocated (yes, I am aware of the just released new date of 8 November), I'd say France is far and away ahead of the US when it comes to tourists and their process.

Did you include anything in your email besides the pdf files (e.g., did you write saying you are requesting a pass?)? Also, did you include all passengers information in one email or send separate emails for everyone?

@amberpatnaude - Just that we have applied for the passes and did not receive them. As I mentioned, we also included the file numbers. We added all information in one email.

CDC cards are all France requires for entry as an American - as long as they're doing that, there's no reason to not accept it at a restaurant. Regardless, December is still a long way away.

@DallasMom7 thank you so much for this information! I sent my email and got both health passes now, after over a month long wait! You are awesome!

@skunklet1771 where did you see that? I have seen numerous reports of individuals not being granted access to places due to not having the pass.

@jeffshulkin: It is a good question for them, but here is what I surmise - the formal process requires you to input the dates of travel. The itinerary confirms that.

The people at SNCF told me last week that they no longer accept the CDC card on their fast trains.

I’ve been moving around south of France last few days.. no restaurants or transit (local tram, bus.. ter or sncf) have yet asked for my pass. Only museums so far. May be different in Paris though.

The French government emailed me that the Pass Sanitary has no expiration date. It definitely doesn't go away November 15. Your material does not have to be in PDF format. I got my pass using jpeg. FYI.

@ rshanes - after we emailed our documents (pdf and jpg) to the address above, we were asked to resend them in pdf format.

Quoting from the email:
“ Also, we do not have access to Google Drive, please send your documents as a pdf attachment.”

I was so hopeful this would work, but unfortunately I just received the following reply:

Dear Sir or Madam,

The procedure to get a health pass from us has, unfortunately, been deleted.

The Health Ministry has put in place a new procedure at this link : https://www.sante.fr/how-to-obtain-a-french-health-pass (English Version), or this link https://www.sante.fr/obtenir-un-passe-sanitaire-en-cas-de-vaccination-letranger (French Version).

I continue to wait in the queue in the official website (originally applied on Oct 7), and worst case, I will seek out a pharmacy once we reach Paris.

I sent the email yesterday and got a response back saying they couldn't do it via email anymore. When did you do it? Thanks. What time of day did you send it?
