Has anyone booked a trip with French Bike Tours (https://www.french-biketours.com/), which is part of S-Cape Travel Group? We are interested in booking a self-guided trip in Alsace, but there are not many online reviews. Any insights or experiences with this company would be greatly appreciated!
No.
But for a great site that has much info on multiple vendors throughout France, go to freewheelingfrance.com. See what you see, there.
In 2023, we used https://www.levelovoyageur.com/en/ in the Dordogne and in the Loire. We gave them 4 stars for the Dordogne and 5 for the Loire (on Trip Advisor). We are presently planning a September 2025 trip to SW Germany, Alsace and Burgundy and we will likely use velo voyageur for Strasbourg to Colmar and for Dijon to Chalon-sur-Saone self-guided, 3-day, 4-night bike trips.
Can't help with French Bike Tours, but I can recommend Discover France for a self-guided bike ride in Alsace. It's one of 13 my wife and I have done in Europe, and the 4th of 5 we've done with Discover France. In Alsace, the bikes, accommodations, transfers and maps (they now use GPS) were all excellent. Daily rides averaged about 40 km and we started in Strasbourg and ended in Colmar. We used traditional road bikes, and though e-bikes are now available, Alsace is not very hilly, and if you ride very much at home, not sure e-bikes are needed.
We did a trip in Alsace with Le Velo Voyageur and were very pleased with the equipment, route app, customer service, and accommodations. The turn-by-turn route app was very helpful once you got used to it and, in my opinion, far superior to a hard copy map though they provided that as well.
