Has it been difficult to get a Covid test in Paris before the flight back to the US? Any advice? And what happens if, worse case scenario, the test comes back positive?

If the test results are positive, you stay in France. I would arrange for a PCR test at a lab (59€ I believe) to confirm results and consult a physician, about 35€. Luckily, medical care in France costs a fraction of what it does in the USA:
