CDG to NCE Layover - 2 Separate Bookings

Hello! Traveling to France in Sept and have two separate tickets/bookings. The first flight is direct from the US into CDG (terminal 2B) and then we have a 3 hour layover before our second flight out of CDG to NCE (separately booked tickets; terminal 2F). We are NOT checking any bags. Main questions are:
1. Can we use the yellow “Transfer” signage to get from one gate/terminal to another even if we have separate tickets?
2. If not, what does that process look like? Is it customs -> travel to terminal outside of airport -> security -> customs again? How much time would that take?

Make sure you have your boarding pass for the second flight prior to leaving the US.

Yes because as you enter 2F you have a security clearance and you are asked for your boarding pass.

Are your bookings with the same airline? If so, you can call them and have the flights connected. The advantage is that if the first one is delayed/cancelled, they will work with you and the second flight as well. If not connected, if the first one is late, you are kind of sunk on the second one.
