Best ice cream in Paris?

So fortunately I'll be in Paris in June, though I eat ice cream at any time

I've dreamed of Berthillon ever since I tried it on my first trip years ago...and as I'm staying on Ile Saint-Louis, I'll be a regular

These other shops look yummy;

Folderol

Une Glace de Paris

La Glacé Alain Ducasse

JJ Hings

Jade Genin

Thoughts? Other recommendations?

Thank you!

I’m not an ice cream fan, but I will say that I watched a YouTube video that Les Frenchies did probably a couple of years ago where they tasted tons of ice cream in Paris and talked about them

you might try searching for it

Carol, thanks - I’ll check it out!

Mardee, I signed up for a free trial just to read the article - very well worth it

Thank you !

I second any suggestions from David Lebovitz given he has written a book of ice cream recipes so likely knows what’s good. Last year I had pistachio ice cream from Ducasse and it was one of the most delicious treats ever.

Claire, I didn’t know that!

I’ve been using David as a guide to at least get me started on my research - he’s terrific,

Oh yum…..good, true pistachio (not the bright green stuff) is hard to find

Thank you!

Betsy, David Lebovitz is a great guide for food ideas in Paris. I appreciate that he focuses on quality versus high profile etc and he gives reasons for what he thinks about an option. And I agree pistachios can be a challenging ingredient to source. On recent trips to Italy I have been looking for Sicilian pistachios and related products and they aren’t as easy to find as other sources.

Mardee, I haven’t tried his ice cream recipes as too much temptation to have on hand:) But based on recent clues, his next cookbook that he is finishing up might be all about chocolate and I will be all in for that one if it is!

Claire, he puts a lot of thought into his reviews, and you can tell he knows what he’s talking about. I think it’s wonderful that such a resource exists

I might have to buy his ice cream cookbook just to read, lol…

Thank you!!

By the way, I was recommended to the the Thai Jasmine-scented rice ice cream at this place

This person said it was “killer”! It looks incredible, but I’m also obsessed now with vanilla & kasha

It must be tiny or hidden, because I’ve never run across it in my research (and I’ve read many articles and blog posts)

As cliché as Berthillon has become, I still love it. It's the first place I ever tasted caramel au beurre salé many years ago and it changed my life! lol

Alexander, There’s a reason why cliches become cliches!

I can still taste the cassis I had years ago….and also I’m pretty sure the caramel

Whenever I dream of Paris, I’m often looking for Berthillon!

Eric, I wish I were in Paris now, lol

I love gelato -not nearly as much as ice cream, but I love it…and Pozzetto is on my list. Flavors in summer will be so refreshing !
