2 days and counting

I haven't been on the forum much recently perusing, but have a few questions based on some posts I glanced at today. Sorry if these questions have already been asked but I don't have the time to spend time looking for answers. Appreciate any feedback.

1) Any concern about rail strikes for train from Barcelona to Perignon, France? (June 22nd)
2) Staying in Vaison La Romaine for a week 25-July 2- Should we take mosquito repellent? This is the first time we've traveled to Europe in the middle of the summer so not sure what to expect?
3) Hearing about all the rain- Should we expect rainy days or just rain at some point during the day? Still take rain jackets? or are lightweight windbreakers sufficient with an umbrella? We'll be in southern France/Provence June 22-July 2, then Paris for a week
4) Train from Avignon to Paris on July 1, how do we find out if there is a strike on our train? or do you not know until the train doesn't arrive or shows cancelled? Sounds like we can just take the next train, we just might not have seats?
5) We have ET tickets on July 3rd at 11:00 am. Will that area be a little less crazy since it's early in the day?

Can't wait to land in Barcelona!!!

Check whether or not your French train is scheduled to run at http://www.sncf.com/en/timetables-updates-traffic on the evening before departure. If your scheduled train is cancelled you can use the same ticket for travel on any other train on the same route in France on the same day or next day, but without a guaranteed seat assignment. The best replacement train for you might be earlier than your original plan, which is one reason to check the day before. Station staff can also help you.

If your Barcelona to Perpignan train is a TGV, operated by France, then it would be affected by the French strikes. If your first train is an AVE, operated by Spain, then it would only be affected by Spanish strikes. Look for any news at www.renfe.es. If you want to switch from a cancelled French TGV to a running Spanish AVE, then they may not accept the original ticket but you could try to have it marked as "unused" by station staff, to help you get a refund on that ticket.

Yes, I would take mosquito repellant, especially in case all that rain creates more standing puddles where mosquitos like to breed. I think a light, water-resistant windbreaker and umbrella are a good combo, without worrying about full water-proofing. In July, you'll dry. I also wear sandals in the rain.

Sorry, I haven't followed the sports-related issues.

P.S. Priscilla and Richard have both reported their recent train strike experiences within France.

It appears that the train is listed on both Renfe and SNCF sites showing "RENFE-SNCF. So can I assume that it's SNCF? It's not TGV and is a direct train from Barcelona to Perignon with two stops leaving at 9:40 in the morning.

OK, using Voyages SNCF, I do see that notation on the direct TGV departure at 9:25, so that sounds like they'll take joint responsibility for allowing you onto other services, if necessary. If you meant the 9:45 departure, that has two connections, not two stops, and uses both AVE and regional trains.

1,2 = yes

3 = probably plenty of rain. Spring has not been kind this year. But it may change. I'll check my crystal ball. Nope, foggy.

4 = answered above

5 = who knows? I doubt it as the football is still going full blast, but maybe.

Laura, It's the Barcelona Sants We, 22.06.16 dep 09:25 TGV 9702 train
I have the SNCF app now so we can assess situation the day before and take the 7:00ish train instead if needed.
