1 night in Paris after arrival at Gare de l’Est?

Suggest where to stay for 1 night in Paris, arriving Gare de l’ Est late afternoon Weds May 22? Need to taxi or Uber to CDG on Thursday for flight out from CDG at 1600. Modest/ moderate price preferred.

You can get a cab from Gare de l'Est to any location in Paris so you are not restricted to the area around the train station.

What is "modest" pricing in Euro to you? I KNOW what it is for me...but you might have a different criteria.

I'd also suggest downloading the G7 app so you can book a taxi for the ride to the airport. I've had good luck with them arriving early.

Another vote for the G7 taxi app. User friendly, reliable, professional Paris taxi's.

If you want to use the train to CDg then get a hotel near the St. Michel, Luxembourg or Gare du Nord stops. We like Henri IV Rive Gauche near the St. Michel stop but like so many things, the costs are much higher than they used to be. Gare du Nord tends to have cheaper hotel options.

Great replies, thank you.

Our plans have changed due to river levels, it, we will arrive in Paris a bit earlier, and would like to be in a nice area to stroll around and have dinner, before leaving the next day to Charles de Gaulle. The 10th, very near the train stations, though well located for arrival and departure, sounds not so nice for strolling.

Any particular streets, or Arrondissement you can suggest?
Much appreciate the suggestions!

When arriving at Gare de l'Est you could take Metro 4 to Saint-Michel Notre Dame stop and find a hotel in the area. This area offers many hotels & restaurants, walking distance to see Notre Dame, at least from the outside. Stroll along the Seine towards the Louvre and Tuileries Garden. You can walk to Vedettes du Pont Neuf, https://www.vedettesdupontneuf.com/home/, and take an evening River Cruise.

Saint-Michel Notre Dame station also has the RER-B which you can take to CDG or pre-arrange a taxi through the G7 App or call them.

Enjoy your stay.

A few years ago, we stayed at Belta Hotel, which is walking distance of Gare de l'Est. Around the back of the hotel is the Canal St Martin with a pleasant walk along the canal toward Bastille. The restaurant Les Enfants Perdue, which is a quite nice small bistro, is nearby. Timhotel Paris Gare de l"Est is also a reasonably priced closer to the station.

Sam's rec of Hotel Balta is good, I prefer the Hotel Soft in the same area. Within rue des Vinaigriers there are several excellent restaurants offering French, Italian or Chinese food.
