We’re just back from Tuscany and want to share a wonderful shop on the SS146 where you can get excellent pecorino, sausage, wine and other local products for great prices. The lovely shopkeeper vacuum-packed everything for us so we could bring it home legally. We were driving Rick’s Heart of Tuscany route and were lamenting that we didn’t have time to go into the town of Pienza for pecorino when I spotted the sign for Il Negozio “Pecorino di Pienza”. The address is SS146 di Chianciano, #34, 53045 Montepulciano. Email labuca@fattoriabucanuova.it, tel: 0578/758338 They do close for siesta. Hours are 9-13:00 and 15:30-19:30. We actually showed up around 1:15 but she hadn’t closed yet because there were other customers in the shop, and she showed no hurry to get us out of there. Super friendly. We asked for 200g of sliced cheese to go, for a snack, and she gave it to us for free. And this was after giving us samples of every type of pecorino. I wish we’d bought wine there, too, as we then found the shops in Montepulciano a bit pricey in comparison. Buon appetitto!
