Wineries Orvieto-Siena

Last thread that I could find concerning this in depth was from 2009 and not exactly in area I'm interested in. Will be driving from naples to south of san Gimignano. Plan to exit around Orvieto to visit smaller wineries. By the time we leave Naples and stop for lunch it will be approaching early afternoon, so we won't have a great deal of time to do wine tastings as it appears most close 17:00. If anybody has suggestions of wineries in close proximity of Orvieto I would appreciate. Don't want to waste anymore daylight driving so we can spend more time sampling. Will be traveling with several foodies, so I have a rec. for a restaurant in Orvieto for lunch , but if there is a winery with an above average restaurant in the area, would like suggestions for that as well. Doing lots of research myself but there are tons of wineries and would be nice to have some help. Thank you!!

As you do those tasings, remember that the Italian limit for drink driving is much lower than in many places, and a few tastings and lunch could put you in peril of fairly serious enforcement.

Second, you almost always need a reservation to visit a winery and generally a fee is involved. We have been turned away when we didn't have a reservation even though no one else was there.
