I stayed in Paris last fall and found one of the best ways to get to know the city was through walking and experiencing local food. Although, it can be difficult to find truly Parisian restaurants that are free of tourists. I know the best way to get food recommendations is asking locals, but I wouldn't say the French are warm and inviting. I saw many different food/walking tours available and was skeptical, but I ended up taking a sweet tour through Lisa who owns Flavours of Paris and it was such a special experience. She took us all around the city, meeting local cheesemakers, chocolate makers, and wine experts and I felt like I was behind the scenes. It also helped us learn about the neighborhoods and discover little side streets with so much character. I recommend doing this if you are looking for authentic experience but feel unable to find the right places and people.
