Rome - home of the best dessert you can buy

Just found this forum, so thought I'd contribute something relevent...

When in Rome last year, our hotel proprietor tipped us off to a place called Pompi, a couple blocks from the Spanish Steps, near where we were staying, that had AWESOME Tiramisu. Their classic Tiramisue was fantastic, but they had other Tiramisu varieties, including a Strawberry Tiramisu that is the most incredible dessert I think I've ever had. It is sold in little 4x6" boxes with a disposable spoon, but is pretty fresh - in fact, the person behind the desk demands to know if you're going to eat it within the next 20 minutes! All of this for the low, low price of 4 Euros.... I'd never heard of Strawberry Tiramisu before, but I am convinced this is what gets served after meals in heaven...We were in Rome 3 nights, and ate there like 5 times, and I still dream of it.

Wow, that sounds fantastic! I just looked on-line and found some Strawberry & a Raspberry Tiramisu recipe. Since it's berry season, we'll be trying a little "slice of heaven" soon. Thanks!

Do all Tiramisu desserts have a coffee flavor? I don't like coffee flavoring, but the strawberry flavor sounds interesting.

Pilgrim, yes traditional tiramisu has coffee flavor but it's not usually that noticeable. I don't like coffee flavored anything as a rule but most of the tiramisu I've had has been wonderful, more cocoa and cream flavor than coffee. I'd be interested to try the strawberry flavor the OP mentioned - now strawberry, that's a flavor that I love.

While classic Tiramisu has a coffee flavored element to it, not all the varieties of Tiramisu have it. The strawberry Tiramisu at Pompis does not have any coffee flavoring to it at all. It is more like a strawberry custard cake dessert, but ridiculously fresh and delicious. :)

Thanks, Wade, I've already added it to my itinerary and tagged it on my on-line map. :)

Now I'm hopping on the treadmill so I can lose 10 pounds to allow for the 10 pounds I'm going to gain eating it each day. LOL
