Restaurant surcharges—-watch out in Spain in particular

It is good to know this in advance, and check the menu for other possible surcharges, so you are not surprised, and do not try to argue against legitimate charges that may appear on your bill.

Similar, when we were in Nazarre, Portugal, and wanted a rest and a cocktail, the only tables we could get (mid afternoon) were in the sun even though there were vacant tables in the shade.
