We did an afternoon tea today. On our last visit, we didn’t have reservations and were unable to do a walk-in full afternoon tea as we toured around. So, on this trip, I did a ton of research and picked The Savoy. We are celebrating here and I wanted to special spot and needed it to be close to our hotel. I also wanted a nice place - but one that didn’t have a dress code.
Our table did both vegetarian tea and the standard tea. Total cost with service charge was $140 each - and we felt it was a really poor value. The food was just fine and nicely presented but there just wasn’t that much of it. One member of our group did re-fill his sandwiches and the Savoy staff was nice about offering that.
The hotel is beautiful, the tea room is gorgeous - but that was truly a one-time thing for us. I’m sort of embarrassed we even did the tea but I’m posting here since the tea question comes up often.
I’ll add that we were served 4 quarter sandwiches each, so approximately one sandwich. Then there were 2 mini scones, two finger-size sweet cakes, and two mini-fruit tarts.
