Pakhuis, Gent/Belgium

Dined at Pakhuis in Gent in 2012 and couldn't wait to get back this past Sept. This restaurant is an amazing experience, it's transformation from warehouse to restaurant has to be seen to be appreciated. Its glass ceilings, dining balconies, and overall ambiance are just a hint at the delights the menu. Even the bathrooms are an experience. May sound weird unless you've been there. In planning our trip, we had forgotten that Sundays are problematic as to dining out, as Pakhuis, like so many others, was closed. As we had a train to catch to Brugge on Monday, I made an on line reservation for noon that day, thinking I'd be disappointed. Could not have been more wrong. Lunch could have been dinner; the Norwegian king crab was a succulent delight. Not being much of a wine drinker, the house rose was as smooth as silk. My only regret is that there is no Pakhuis in the U..S.
