Naples Dining and Drinking Recommendations

We are spending a month in Naples in April-May. I'd love your recommendations for good bars and your favorite dining destinations- everything from casual to special occasion. We eat pretty much everything (though I don't love tripe). It's our second visit, we spent almost a week there in October, along with several days in Ischia. We're staying near Villa Communale di Napoli, near a Metro station. TIA.

Ahhh your trips sound like a dream! We spend every Christmas in Napoli, in an AirBnB on Riviera di Chiaia, by the Arco Mirelli metro station (so, perhaps just west of you?).

Our go-tos:
Eat pizza every day, alternating between da Michele (for margherita) and 50 Kalo (for specialty toppings). Sfogliatella frolla from Attanasio, sfogliatella riccia from Sfogliatelli Mary.
Fresh produce from the pignasecca market
Groceries from the Sole 365 across from the Mergellina station

Wishing you a fabulous trip!!

Pepi in Grani- about an hour out of Naples, in the countryside. was ranked no 1 Pizzeria in world, possibly not anymore but it was an outstanding experience. Other pizzeria we loved:La Marsadone, 50 Kalo, Pomod'oro Pizzeria, Gino e Toto, La Notizia 94, Pizzeria Salvo. And more! Yes, we ate a lot. Some of these were 'hole in the wall' but most were sit down and takeouts.

On our Naples stay this past November, we had two favorite restaurants:

Sottocoperta, a very small but very, very excellent seafood restaurant. They come around to each table with a chalkboard of that day’s options, based on that day’s catches. As it’s so small, with a limited number of tables, making a reservation is smart. It’s a three minute walk from the Dante metro stop.

For finer dining, Januarius, on Via Duomo. It has a Michelin recommendation, although not a full Michelin Star. This is another place where a reservation is suggested, if not essential.

i can’t offer any personal recommendation for bars in Naples, but from what I observed while passing many, a soccer game will likely be on TV, with a large audience watching and drinking.

Great traditional Neapolitan food at Osteria Il Gobbetto, Vico Sergente Maggiore 8, a short stroll from Piazza de Plebiscito. Generous servings at reasonable prices. I’d recommend reservations.

Thank you all, I've put pins in all of them, noting which benefit from reservations.

I add one of my own, La Taverna Del Buongustaio Napoli, just off Via Toledo and halfway between Toledo and Dante metro station, near the Pignaescca market. https://maps.app.goo.gl/tWp9zAx9JdLMY8rL7

We had life-changing pizza at Antica Pizzeria Di Matteo, which we taken to on a food tour, and returned to. I typically bypass a simple marinara, but sampling their's was a revelation and a lesson.

Again, many thanks. With a month there's a good chance we'l get to most of 'em.

Check out Pizzeria Starita for pizza, Trattoria da Nennella for seafood, and take a stroll along the Lungomare for gelato and views of Castel dell’Ovo.
