I am sad to say that this wonderful little restaurant near Varenna Italy has permanently closed as Chef Moreno died of a sudden heart attack at the start of March this year. The cooking class he shared with my niece and I exactly one year was a marvelous beginning to our 17-day Rick Steves Tour.

I’m also sad. It was also one year ago that his wife picked us up in Varenna and drove us up the winding road to their restaurant. He prepared a wonderful meal for us and then drove us back down the road while telling us stories about his family.

We participated in his cooking class pre-COVID, and had a wonderful time, as it hailed outside during a wild rain storm, in April.
The food was great!

We’re so sad to see this news, but thank you for posting. We had dinner at the restaurant a year ago and it was one of the highlights of our trip.

I’m so sad to hear this. We took the cooking class from him in 2010 and he drove us back to our B&B. We had a delightful time with him and it was a highlight of our trip.
