Window possible to open (At least a gap)?

I suffer from claustrophobia. It's important for me to be able to open the window in a hotel, even if only a crack. This is very difficult to find out. I have found an offer from the Hyatt Regency Blackfriars and have to decide quickly as it cannot be cancelled. Has anyone stayed at this hotel before? Is it possible to open the window of the hotel room a little?

Why don't you contact the hotel and ask? You can call them at +442033751234 or try sending them a message on Facebook (I have found this to be very successful when contacting businesses). https://www.facebook.com/hyattregencylondonblackfriars/

FWIW, I have found that over the years, the number of larger hotels that allow you to open windows in Europe have diminished. I would suggest that if this is important to you (and the Hyatt does not work), you look for a B&B or apartment, where the odds are greater that you will be able to open a window.

Sometimes I got a wrong answer, so I‘m not fine with fon answers. Didn‘t find a contact email adress and need a quickly answer.

Fjord, I just did a search and the only other post about Hyatt Regency Blackfriars was from you a few months ago, which got no response. This leads me to believe that posters here have not stayed there. If you don't trust the response from the hotel, then I would probably not book there if the window is that important to you.

You could also try posting on Trip Advisor, although I would clarify that you prefer to have first-hand info from someone who has stayed there. Otherwise you will get the same responses you got here; namely telling you to contact the hotel.

If you decide to book, I would not go with a non-refundable rate no matter how good it is as you may find out later that it does not meet your requirements.

Although you didn’t ask for alternative recommendations, I will add that the Lime Tree Hotel on Ebury Street does not have AC thus the windows open in all the rooms.

I would assume that the windows do not open. It’s extremely rare in any modern hotel for you to be able to open the windows as they have heating and cooling systems. It costs a fortune to run these if windows are also being opened, and we have pretty much the world’s most expensive electricity here in the UK.

Fjord, I'll echo Pam's wise advance here. Besides arriving and not finding things to your liking, there's always the chance of an illness, injury or other than could cause you to have to postpone the trip. Yes, there's trip insurance but....

Question? According to your post on 11/30/24 (Jazz Cafe London) you've been to London before and I'll assume you stayed in the city? Did that prior accommodation have windows that opened? If so, is there a reason you wouldn't just book there again?

I like to be able to open a window, too. I stayed at Locke at Broken Wharf, near Millenium Bridge, and their windows opened. They're the European style that either tilt open at the top or swing open from the side. They don't open wide, but it was wide enough to get some fresh air. I would suspect the Hyatt, if it's a modern hotel, is not going to have a window that opens.

Here is my result. I phoned the Hyatt Regency Hotline. First answer: ALL windows can be opened. I told her that I searched reviews via youtube and didn‘t see any windows handle and wanted to know how I can open the window. She then put me through to reception. I got the answer. Sorry, all windows are locked.

I‘m a little bit sad.
I only know photos and YouTube films of the hotel. I like the hotel so much. What a pity. I'll have to think about it in future and cross the hotel off my wish list.

I've only just tried it again past april (Premier Inn PAD Station). That was a nice hotel, but really stressful for me because I couldn't open a window) . Next time I like to can be a little be relaxed with the hotelroom in London and next time, we are 2 adults. 2 adults in a room. No window to open. Sometimes it works, and sometimes PANIC. Terrible. I hate myself for this problem.

Thank you for your help. I love this forum!

I’m sorry you are suffering, it cannot be easy.
Have you looked for hotels that might have a small balcony with a door to it?
Not common in London, but you might be
Or perhaps a studio or vacation rental?
