Best way to travel by train from Whitby to Penrith?

Go to nationalrail.co.uk and plan a journey from Whitby to Penrith. Then buy some tickets. Then go and board the train at Whitby, changing where necessary. Finally, leave the train at Penrith. Pretty much the same as when you asked in January.

Nothing significant is changing with the new timetables in mid May.
