Testing positive before a flight

I'm wondering if any of you travelers encountered testing positive before a flight back to the US? If yes, how did you handle this? Where did you stay to wait it out? How did you go about testing during that time? Of course, I'm hopeful this won't happen to us but I know it's happened already to some. Thanks.

Sharon, you posted this in the England forum. Are you asking specifically for the UK? The reason I ask is that the experience of a person testing positive before his/her flight in the UK is going to be different than the experience of a person testing positive before his/her flight in Italy.......

If you read through the threads you will find where people have posted their experiences. Just remember the criteria about what happens does have a country specific element.

What about if you catch Covid mid trip? It’s not just when you leave that you need to be concerned about.

What to do if you test positive has been covered at length over several weeks on this forum.

Are you on a tour or independent travel? Where are you travelling?

Thank you, Andrew! Carol, we will be leaving the UK on the way to the US so I've learned will need a Covid test 72 hours in advance. This information has been very helpful. More research to do! It used to be very easy to travel.

Sharon, your information is a little off. You need a test the day before you fly to the US. For example, if your flight is on Tuesday, you can test any time on Monday through the departure time for your flight.

Many people are bringing at least a few home tests with them in case they end up with a positive test so they can check periodically to see if they have converted back to negative.
