I read the question and answers about what to see in Salisbury, but am wondering if anyone has a recommendation of where to stay? We'll be arriving by car, and it seems if we want to stay in town we will have to park in a car park. Any reason that's not a good idea?
I am sure there are a number of good locations. I stayed at the Red Lion in the city. However I arrived by train and just took a taxi there, so can’t speak to parking.
I gave some suggestions on your other thread.

Oops, trying to do too many things. Sorry for the repeat request.
I am glad there are two - at first I thought I had imagined answering. Ha!
When I was on the RS Villages of Southern England tour in 2016, we stayed at the Legacy Rose & Crown Hotel in Salisbury, which if I recall, had its own parking lot. It's a short walk cross the river from the Cathedral and has a decent restaurant. My room looked out on the river.
Thank you!
