Recommendations for South Kensington or Mayfair Areas in December

Looking for a Christmas week stay and would welcome any recommendations on "somewhat" reasonable places in South Kensington or Mayfair for a week. Thanks.

Define reasonable. (How much are you willing to spend?)

How many people?

Start with Premier Inns. None exactly in South Kensington or Mayfair but nearby.

We rented a small Mews house in South Kensington over Christmas from London Perfect. There were four of us. Wonderful area. Expensive area to stay in.
If you want to attend a Christmas service at Westminster Abbey, tickets are released four times, in Oct and Nov.

I actually hate making hotel recs but this one worked really well for the 4 of us. A nice sized room with 4 beds. I think was the entire former attic. It was really convenient to the Gloucester Road tube station.

Hotel or apartment?

What do you feel is a “somewhat reasonable“ accommodation cost?

London isn’t inexpensive and both South Kensington and Mayfair are two of the pricier London neighborhoods.

Thanks everyone. Should have added 2 persons, open to apartments, B&B, etc. no more than $200 Or so.

That's £160, which is going to be a struggle, particularly in two of London's most expensive neighbourhoods. Actually I can't think of anywhere in that price range.

Frank II's suggestion of a nearby Premier Inn may well fit your budget. Not actually in Mayfair of South Ken, but close.

a very similar question was asked by tavoorhees on Tuesday, also in the England Forum - and received answers

I guess they didn’t like the answers from their first post.

London around Christmas is very expensive…I think $200 per night would not get you a decent place to stay.
This past December I paid about CAN$250 per night for my tiny modest single room in a London hotel near King’s Cross.
Same hotel, different times of the year….lower prices.
For more people you would be looking at a lot more money, unless you stay well out of Central London, but then you’re paying more to travel in and out each day.

Thanks everyone. Appreciate it. We'll up our budget and plan accordingly. Apologies on the double post. There was an error on my end and I couldn't see the initial one.
