recommendations for family stay 4 nights in London?

We're headed to London next July with 3 kids (10, 8, 5) and five adults (two parents and three grandparents). We'll be staying for four nights. Any recommendations for accommodations that could work for a group that big? Air-con is a plus since it'll be the depths of summer. Thanks!

You might consider an apartment, which will give enough space for all of you. I don't have any experience with one myself but here are a couple of recent posts that talk about London apartments, which you can check out.

This is a thread started by me, and if you will scroll about halfway down to Rebecca's response, she lists a number of apartment hotels in London: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/england/traveling-to-england-in-2025-with-grandkids-and-looking-for-guidance

Apartment hotels would be ideal—you could get two 2-bedroom apartments on the same floor in the building. Some apartments will offer one bedroom plus sofa bed in the living room to sleep 4, but that may not be very comfortable.

Marlin Queen Street is a great location, very close to St. Paul’s and within walking distance of the Tower of London. They have reasonably priced two-bedroom apartments with full kitchens. But they do not mention air conditioning among the amenities. Nor can I find A/C mentioned in their other location listings. Marlin Canary Wharf, which is a newer building, mentions a fan. You could email one of them and ask about A/C for a definitive answer.

Native Hyde Park offers spacious apartments in a building between Paddington and Hyde Park. But no A/C . We have stayed here and were surprised by how large our one-bedroom apartment was. But the 2-bedroom apartments are listed at 430-480 sq ft which doesn’t seem as roomy.

Cheval Collection has luxury apartments, priced accordingly. But they do offer 2- and 3-bedroom apartments, and the locations I checked (Knightsbridge and Glouster Park) do have A/C.

I see your numbers are 5 (family) plus 3 (grandparents). An apartment is probably your only bet there.

I was recently looking this week for the first week of June, and struggled to find much that really worked for 5. A seeming mix of non-ideal locations, high prices, and bad reviews (generally intermittently strewn in amongst good ones) was the norm. With 8 your other option is to split 4-4, there are 10x the number of 4 person rooms than 5 person rooms.

I ended up booking Hotel St Simeon as the room for 5 had good recent reviews and I'm partial to the neighborhood (lived there for a bit eons ago). My advice is get something that will work and is cancelable, this way you can take your time looking for a gem.

Thanks so much, Tom! I'll take a look! It turns out we'll only have 2 grandparents with us so that simplifies things a bit, but man is it hard to travel with three kids! It looks like the Resident locations might be an option for us-- i'm tracking down info now. I appreciate your advice!

I would recommend The Resident Victoria. Centrally located to sites, transportation, food etc. We spent several nights there about 3 weeks ago with our grandchildren, daughter and son-in-law. They had a room next to ours that accommodated 4 people.
